Clean Eats BBQ Sauce


Ingredients:

■1 tbsp olive oil
■1 small white onion, diced small
■3 cloves garlic, pressed through a garlic press
■1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
■2 tsp ground (dry) mustard
■1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
■1/4 cup unsulphured molasses
■2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
■3 tbsp white vinegar
■salt and pepper to taste

Preparation:

1.In a medium saucepan heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onions and cook until completely soft, about 5 minutes.
2.Add garlic and cook another minute.
3.Add remaining ingredients and simmer over low heat for about 5 minutes.

Notes:

For a tangier taste add a bit more molasses or for a smoky taste add a dash of liquid smoke.

The sauce will keep in the refrigerator for about a week or you can freeze for up to 4 months.
